Creating a plan for your blog post content (what posts you are going to write and when) will keep you focused and on-task.
It will also keep your content balanced so you are adding a variety of content in multiple categories on your site.
Without a content plan it is easy to write in the same category multiple times in a row, or forget about a certain group of readers that may be needing different content.

Step 1 ‣ Set your writing goal.
How many blog posts will you publish each month, week, etc.? How many will be cornerstone posts, and how many will be list posts, etc.?
Step 2 ‣ Choose your category for each post. Now narrow your category down to the post topic.
If you are publishing one blog post a week and you have 5 categories on your blog, ideally you will cover all 5 categories in 5 weeks (or less) by writing a minimum of one blog post per week.
Step 3 ‣ Record your writing plan on your calendar.
I use Google calendar by creating a separate calendar titled “Content Calendar.” I also like the free WordPress plugin Editorial Calendar.
