Blog Growth Blitz #15: Complete A Monthly 404 Page Check

You don’t want visitors coming to your website and landing on pages without content.

Examples when this an happen might be when affiliates change a sales page, take down a product previously for sale, products with affiliate links (think Amazon) are no longer available, etc.

It can also be an error we make when interlinking our pages that we don’t realize.

how to get more traffic to your blog with this quick task

HOW TO

STEP 1 ‣ Add a 404 page check to your monthly calendar. I schedule time at the beginning of each month.

STEP 2 ‣ Use a free service such as Broken Link Check or Dead Link Checker and enter your domain. Let it do it’s magic!

STEP 3 ‣ Make time to fix any broken links as soon as possible.

If readers continue to hit invaluable links, they will likely not return to your site. In the scheme of the big picture this hurts your traffic.

Always remember, EVERY PERSON MATTERS!

Done! 😊

PRO TIP

Create a custom 404 page os if a viitor does land there it is not a waste! Your custom page could offer links to your top posts, showcase your products, or even offer one of your best opt-in forms. Get creative to keep the reader on your site and not feel like they have reached a dead end (and click on to someone else’s site.)
